AI can now generate layouts, write code, create imagery, produce copy and assemble functioning websites in minutes. That changes web design significantly, but it does not make every part of the design process equally replaceable.

AI is exceptionally good at acceleration

Designers can use AI to explore visual directions, create content variations, prototype interactions, summarise research and automate repetitive production. Developers can use it to generate code, debug and document systems faster.

The execution layer of digital production is becoming dramatically more efficient.

AI is also making generic design cheaper

If a business needs a conventional five-page website with familiar sections and no unusual requirements, AI-assisted tools and templates can increasingly produce an acceptable result at very low cost.

This does not mean design has lost value. It means generic execution is becoming commoditised.

What AI still struggles to own

The difficult part of many real projects is not drawing the interface. It is deciding what the interface should do.

That requires understanding business objectives, conflicting stakeholder needs, content priorities, user behaviour, technical constraints and brand positioning. AI can support those decisions, but accountability and judgement still matter.

Original experiences require direction

Our 11 SKIES website uses immersive Web3D to turn destination information into an exploratory journey. Our Givenchy interactive experience connects a touchscreen, camera, studio flash and instant printing to transform a retail purchase into a branded moment.

AI can help teams produce pieces of experiences like these. The creative concept, orchestration and reason for those pieces to exist still require human direction.

The designer's role is moving upstream

As production becomes faster, more value shifts toward framing the problem, establishing a point of view, designing systems and making decisions.

The best future is probably AI plus design

Rejecting AI makes little sense when it can remove repetitive work and expand what small teams can produce. Relying on it without judgement is equally limiting.

The opportunity is to use AI for speed while protecting the parts of design that create meaning: strategy, clarity, originality and empathy.

AI is not the end of web design. It is changing where good designers create value.

這不代表設計沒有價值，而是 Generic Execution 正逐漸 Commodity 化。

AI 仍然難以取代的是甚麼？

很多真實項目最難的部分，不是把 Interface 畫出來，而是決定 Interface 應該做甚麼。

這需要理解 Business Objective、不同 Stakeholder 的矛盾需要、Content Priority、User Behaviour、Technical Constraint 及 Brand Positioning。AI 可以協助分析，但最終的判斷及責任仍然需要人。

Original Experience 仍需要 Creative Direction

AI 可以協助製作這些體驗中的不同部分，但 Concept、Orchestration，以及「為甚麼要這樣做」，仍需要人的 Creative Direction。

Designer 的價值正在向上游移動

當 Production 愈來愈快，價值自然轉移到 Problem Framing、Point of View、System Design 及 Decision Making。

未來更可能是 AI + Design

完全拒絕 AI 沒有太大意義，因為它可以移除大量重複工作；但沒有判斷地依賴 AI 同樣有限制。

真正的機會，是利用 AI 的速度，同時保留設計最有價值的部分：Strategy、Clarity、Originality 及 Empathy。

AI 並不是網頁設計的終結。它正在重新定義優秀 Designer 在哪裏創造價值。
